What are RWAs? Tokenized real-world assets explained
Understand the meaning of RWA, the asset types it covers and how to start exploring projects.
Editorial review: 2026-10-19What does RWA mean?
RWA stands for real-world assets. In tokenization, it describes digital representations of assets or associated rights, such as property, gold and financial instruments. It is a broad label rather than one product.
Start with the underlying asset
For property, begin with rights to ownership or income. For gold, examine backing and custody. For a fund, read its strategy and terms. Using blockchain does not make these exposures equivalent.
A project token is not always an asset claim
Distinguish a token representing a documented claim from a platform’s utility or governance token. Sharing the RWA label does not establish identical rights over an asset.
How to use this directory
Choose a category, open a profile and follow its official sources. Note what is documented and what remains unknown. Our catalogue supports that reading; it is not exhaustive and does not rank projects by future returns.
